[imp] Problems connecting to POP server

Hello all,
	I'm spending a lot of time to figure out why I receive the following message 
from the imp/test.php page while attempting to connect to our local pop 
server:

array(1) {
	[0] =>
	string(31) "No such host as mail.foo.bar.com"
}

obviously mail.foo.bar.com is a running pop3 server reachable by the host.
