Just completed this about 15 minutes ago, and already I can tell that 
the problem is solved; httpd process CPU usages are back down to their 
normal levels. :-)

(actually, this was earlier today; I originally forgot to cc a copy of 
this to the list- I imagine others might find it helpful. It's still
