[imp] Hi, can anyone help me please

I just got it worked last week, i took a src rpm and compile it on my RedHat
8.0,
it works fine.

This is what is in my /etc/pam.d/poppassd (it installed by default with rpm
installation)
auth       required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
account    required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
password   required     /lib/security/pam_cracklib.so retry=3
password   required     /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth

Maybe you can take my rpm file from attachment and give it a try

I had a similar problem with RH8 and poppasswd, have you tried using the
RPM from rpmfind.net ? This one worked for me..... Although I am still
having problems with user names larger than 8 chars.

This is likely a configuration issue with the O/S.  I think I ran into
the same thing in that my poppassd daemon wasn't compiled to use MD5
encryption and I changed the defaults in the O/S to use MD5 :)

Start looking at PAM, the poppassd daemon, etc.
