Chuck,
I tried applying the patch to both imp 3.1 and 3.2.3 and the same
problem occurs (patch reported problems, but I manually patched the
login.php file to ensure the changes were appropriately committed). I
don't know if its any help to you, but we do have imp authentication
enabled.

I'm including a demo login/password. If you want to see for yourself,
login, click on the account tab, change the password, then quickly
click on the inbox icon. Logout, and log back in and you see all the
identities will be erased. I've also tried manually changing an account
password from ldap directly to ensure that it is not the change
password software that is causing the problem.
