Either it doesn't, or it does so for as long as your dns entry says it should.
In either case, the ball is in your (dns) court.

Find out the DNS TTL for your entry, and then add that to the date the
DNS was changed.  That is the minimum time you need to keep it running.
The max would be about 2x that.

If I misunderstood (e.g. you didn't change your DNS) let me know.
