[imp] Private Adress Book Not working

I understand that the private address book provided via turba is stored in the user's home directory.  But it does not work for me when I try to add contacts.  What is the file that it tries to write?  Do I need to create this file first and give correct permissions?  Where can I choose what directory the address book will end up in?
