[imp] imap-2001a

hello
I am attempting to have horde imp working following the guide
 
http://www.geocities.com/oliversl/imp/

I can telnet to the server on port 143 but cannot logon.
likewise  I can browse to server/horde/imp/
and get the log on screen but cannot logon.

Presumably I need to make an account on the imap server but
cannot find out how to.

imap2001a seems to be the UW-imapserver.

I installed imap2001a-18.i386.rpm on redhat-9

the documentation for UW-imapserver mentions
everything is configured in env_unix.c 
which I do not seem to have.

it also mentions c-client which I don't seem to have either
