Really the best way to solve this issue is follow the steps on this page:

http://bugs.php.net/bugs-generating-backtrace.php

And based on what you get, open a bug up with the PHP folks (or c-client people)

While it might not be the easiest thing to do, it will get you to the source of
your problem.  Also have you tried a CVS Snapshot of PHP?
