[imp] Horde auth looping

my imap server is localhost. i'm using courier-imap with authmysql (set
up to look for the maildrop directory in a mysql db). so my "folders" is
empty in config/servers.php, which should be correct.
i have another imp install on a debian box, using woody packages (horde
2.0 and imp 3.0), also with a local mail server using courier-imap.
everything is running ok on this box...
