No, because not IMP is doing the communication, but the c-client 
library compiled into PHP.

This is not *that* unusual, because there are a lot of tasks done by 
IMP on login.

This sounds like temporary timeouts, e.g. during DNS lookups of PGP key 
server timeouts.
