[imp] Odd problem logging in to imap server

Have you tried looking at a packet dump of the underlying network
traffic between IMP and the IMAP server? Are there any errors in the
logs for the IMAP server? What do you see if you manually connect from
the IMP host to the IMAP server and try to read a message?
