[imp] login takes more than 20 seconds

... Some information to my problem, that Horde/Imp login seems to take  
too much time.

I looked into /var/log/mail:
There are three lines from dovecot imap-login.

Dec  8 12:06:00 server imap-login: Login: grfe [::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Dec  8 12:06:20 server imap-login: Login: grfe [::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Dec  8 12:06:20 server imap-login: Login: grfe [::ffff:127.0.0.1]

Between the first and the second process there are 20 seconds. Dovecot  
seems to take this time for the login process. Why may the  
authentication take so much time?

In /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf the authentication is configured by:
auth_userdb = passwd
auth_passdb = pam
