[imp] login takes more than 20 seconds

If you are saying that non-IMP logins are also slow, then the problem is
outside IMP/Horde.  If you are saying something else, then I'm not sure
what you are trying to say.

If you have more IMP connections to the DB than you have DB connections
allowed, then the sessions will stall and things will be slow...
Or, if the DB machine is just slow for some reason, things could be slow.
Probably other things too.

Sounds like maybe a networking issue connecting to the DB?

Also check tcp_wrappers if using them.  An in.authd call could cause a
noticed delay in the connections for example.  That could be caused by
connections to the DB, to dovecot, or both...
