[imp] SMTP Auth using logged in user credentials?

Hi,

In the Wiki at http://wiki.horde.org/FAQ/Admin/Config#toc28 it says that
for IMP 3.x setting $conf['mailer']['params']['auth'] = true; will cause
IMP to use SMTP auth when sending mail from IMP.

I am using CVS HEAD and this appears to have changed. How can I make IMP
4.x use SMTP auth using the logged in user's credentials?
