Bingo. That file needs to be owned by your webserver user. The permissions on
the /var/calendar directory prevent anyone else from opening it, despite the rw
permissions for other. So if your webserver runs as nobody, chown it to nobody.
Etc... (www-data for me, and debian in general - not sure what you're running).
