Nothing helpful in the horde.log, and it is set to LOG_DEBUG. The only info
that is present relevant to the session is:

HORDE [notice] [imp] 129.81.119.25 login success for ccrowle
{mail.tulane.edu:143}

Right, it won't solve this login/session problem. I probably shouldn't have
mixed these two seperate queries in one e-mail.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep trying on this side. Please give me any
hints that you might have about testing the kronolith problem. Should I try
an alternate or modified kronoltih/index.php file to see what results that
gives me?

Any messages in your webserver log, segfaults etc.? Can you provide us some 
sample data that let us reproduce this behaviour?

You could try to var_dump(Auth::getAuth()) before line 52 in lib/base.php 
and compare it to the result you get from other application that work 
without a problem. Perhaps we can narrow this down.
