I would prefer it to be an user-selectable option.

In the options page "User Interface" there is an option "Choose the
views to show event start and end times in:", which only has an effect
on the classic view.
There it is possible to have the starting AND ending time shown next
to an event (which is too much for me, I only need the starting time
and then the event text).
