[sork] vpopmail password change...that age old question

Has anyone nailed down just what encryption type vpopmail uses for
passwords?  Is it MD5 (md5-base64)?  And if so, is there an EASY way to
add mhash() support to PHP WITHOUT a total recompile.  I'm using PHP from 
the RH9 distro CDs and it's been compiled with all sorts of goodies.  If I
need to recompile, I'll have to download a lot of source.  Nasty.
