[sork] passwd-RELENG sql driver error

Hi,

I downloaded the lastest passwd-RELENG version and applied the crypt-md5
patch from this posting:

now I configured my backends.php file to connect to my mysql server. but
everytime I try to change my password I get this:

Notice: Undefined index: protocol in
/httpd/htdocs/webmail/horde-2.2.4/passwd-RELENG/lib/Driver/sql.php on
line 53

I also get the massage that changing the password failed. 
what is wrong here?
