[sork] Forwards connection hangs page takes 1 min to load

When the transaction finishes it fails "Could not set forwarding"  and a 0 byte
.forward file has been created in the user directory.  When I watch the
directory I can see that the file is created right away.  Is it hanging on the
write to the file after the open works?
