A PHP application like Horde should never crash the Apache Server....
Nothing fro Horde side to fix. Have you run a memory test on this  
machine lately?

You are using it on Windows?
All version after 0.52 are broken so they can't read the journal so  
always start from scratch. Hope this will be fixed in 0.9
