I tried it and couldn't get it to work, not that I spent a whole lot of 
time trying... finally I just did a fresh install and everything seems to 
be working.  I didn't really have any data other than junk (test) data in 
the database so I didn't lose anything.

No doubt there was some hidden thing in one of the config files that was 
pointing to the wrong hostname or something.

That's what I get for trying to cut corners.  :-)
