First, thank you for your contribution.  I have only had a chance to  
glance over the diff but it does look fine so far.  I hope to check

I have to plead ignorance here.  Does this modify an LDAP attribute  
or a file?  For which mail system (Sendmail?) is this intended?

Sounds interesting and useful, though I had thought this was already  
the case at least with some LDAP schema

I'd have to see how this is implemented but it also sounds fine.

Please do.  The best thing to do would be to open an "Enhancement"  
ticket in the appropriate queue on bugs.horde.org.  I'll review it  
and commit as necessary.
