[horde] changing default preferences

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still in the dark.  How would I copy the
field's value from a mysql backend to a php file?

Sure. The easiest would be to create the wanted setting with an
authenticated user and copy this field's value from your preferences backend
to the default value in prefs.php.
