I have ignored most of the emails with this thread, as I saw it was became
unproductive quickly. So if someone suggested this already, I'm sorry.
It appears you have a lot of spam to deal with. You may want to implement
some RBL (Relay Block Lists) at the SMTP level... so they never even get
to your mailbox. I personally recommend SpamCop (http://www.spamcop.net)
and Spamhaus (http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl). I personally implemented
these, and others. It has had a HUGE impact on the amount of spam I have
coming into my system. In the end I save on bandwidth, disk storage,
time, and frustration. They are great tools to use in adition to the
filters.
As for the issue of referring to the filters in IMP. As I'm sure you
know, the project is called Horde. Now within Horde there are numerous
"modules" that can be implemented. IMP is simply one of the modules.
Turba is another module which manages contacts, but is accessible within
IMP. I do believe that the filters (at least in the HEAD version) are
actually another module. Perhaps I'm wrong... but thats what knowledge I
have to share this morning!
