[horde] Horde is really really slow on my machine.

Hi all, I finally got horde/imp installed on my project server and was very
disappointed at how slow it runs.  Granted I am working with a slow machine,
but my other php/mysql pages load very fast and Outlook connects very
quickly to imap.

 

Here are the specs:

OS: Solaris 8 (w/ all recent patches)

Machine: SparcStation10

CPU: 2 x SuperSparc 50MHz

RAM: 128MB

 

Apache: 1.3.29 (with mod_ssl, but not being used yet)

PHP: 4.3.2

Imap: imap-2002e (with SSL support)

MySQL: 12.21

OpenSSL: 0.9.7c

Horde: 2.2.4

Imp: 3.2.2

 

Basically every page takes about 10-15 seconds to load.  This doesn't seem
right to me.  If I bring up the Performance Meter, when I click a link (such
as refreshing my inbox) I see the cpu jump from about 5% up to 50% (meaning
one cpu is maxed out) for about 10 seconds, then I see a lot of disk
activity, then the page displays.

 

Is this machine too slow for horde or is there something I can do to speed
things up?
