The same thing happened to our service (HomeFreeMail.com) a couple of months 
ago.  Too many people were complaining about having to do the extra click to see 
their HTML emails.

About the only thing you can do is make absolutely sure you have a good email 
security/filter set up to stop malware from getting to your inboxes.  No filter 
is perfect...but this will reduce the chances of people infecting their machines 
when opening email and having the HTML and images automatic displayed.

Also, as part of the change I made it impossible for our users to turn off the 
spam and virus filters.  This way at least they have some protection.
