As a native English speaker and someone involved in software development, I
interpret that phrase as meaning (correctly, I believe) as the final
release of the stated Version.  And not the final release ever (which is
how I would interpret it if there was NO version number).

Software development usually has several releases of any one version
(alpha, beta, release candidate 1, RC2, RCn, etc.).  This just happens to
be final release.  You don't see announcements about the other releases
because you're not a developer.

Finally, Germans are renowned pendants and perfectionists.  Like Horde I
don't think they get much wrong ;)
