login looping (again)

FBSD 4.1.1 mysql 3.22.32 apache 1.3.14 imp 2.2.3 horde
1.2.3 php3 and php4 installed.

so, here we go:  the login loop problem again, except
this time, imapd works, the counter increments, the
tables in mysql are set up correctly.

I've also run dbpasswd.sh, for what its worth, several
times, to make sure that everything is the same.  I
can see it leaving httpd through httpd-access, but
<grin> I'm not exactly sure where imap-uw stores its
logs.  It does work by telnetting to 143 and through
MS outlook, so it is working...

syslog shows:
Nov 27 17:41:41 inferno IMP[40130]: FAILED
some.ip.address to inferno.luckyirish.net:143 as chris

I know this is pretty scant information, so whatever
any one else needs, besides a major credit card
number, let me know.
