Historical reasons. Really, that's how it was coded, and the contacts stuff in
2.2 was never good enough to be really cleaned up.

2 with ldap, 1 without.

? Folders are whatever your IMAP server says they are.

Subject: Feature request

I've been happily using IMP for quite a while, and I'm quite happy
with it. Even though I'm so pleased with this excellent piece of
software, there is one feature that I'd like to see in a future
release:

I tend to receive a few dozen email messages every day for one of my
accounts, but I usually only get to check that account every few days.
Therefore, at that time I often have 100-200 or more messages, most of
which I want to delete without reading. For convenience, I have
configured IMP to display 25 messages per page, and therefore, I often
have many pages of messages. When it comes time for me to delete
these messages, however, the best I can do is to select all of them on
a given page, and then to delete them, and then to repeat this process
for each page. This takes a while.

Because of this, the feature I'm requesting is that we be able, via a
single command, to mark *all* the messages in a folder for deletion,
not only the messages on a single page. I don't want to lose the
capability to mark and delete one page at a time, but rather, I'm
requesting an extra deletion (and un-deletion) option for all the
messages in a folder.

How feasible would it be to add such a feature to IMP? And what
do the rest of you think of this idea?

If this is a popular idea, but if no one has time to add the feature,
I could work on it in my spare time, and then supply a patch.

Comments?
