mailbox prefix problem

I use uw-imapd.  This imap server uses the users home directory to store 
mailbox objects such as "Folders".  I did not like this.

I recompiled so that it used the mail subdirectory of the users home 
directory.  Imap by itself with netscape/outlook as a client
works fine.  However, when I login via imp I can no longer see the 
folders.  I moved all of them including the .mailboxlist file to the
mail subdirectory.  This should work just fine but it doesn't and I 
can't figure it out.  Any ideas?
