While building your own RPMs from scratch is much more difficult than
building your applications from the source because of added stuff of
packaging, working from an existing source RPM should be much easier as
you will already have a working spec file (instruction data on how to
build the package) that you can work from.

RPM itself. You will need a bunch of dev packages of course, but other
than that and what you're already using, RPM has the stuff you need. :)

You may want to check out <http://www.rpm.org/>. Might find some good
reading stuff depending on how far you want to go. :)

One thing I already found, was that the textarea for the body is 80 characters
big in Mozilla 0.9.4 on Linux.

Hmm - why is the textarea defined to be 80 characters wide at all?
