[imp] login problem with cvs-HEAD IMP (SOLVED) [SASL, Cyrus, CRAM-MD5]

Atif,
   I have found this to happen if there is a sasldb. If you are not using
MD-5 (Cram, or Digest) than the /etc/sasldb should be deleted otherwise
plaintext logins will fail. It doesn't matter if sasl is configured to use
PAM, at least not that I've seen.
