I've the same problem can you tell me how you got it working please?
I've just updated to CVS and now can not login as before....

In HORDE_BASE/config/horde.php, in the Horde Authentication section,
in order to use imp for login/authentication, set:
$conf['auth']['driver'] = 'application';
$conf['auth']['params']['app'] = 'imp';
