[imp] is horde CVS imcompatible with PHP 4.2.1

Hi there, 

Since some time I´ve being "hearing" about some problems about the management of umlauts as well as latin characters.
I am also have the same problems reading mesages with this kind of chars. 

Everything seems to have to see with the version of PHP.
I use the 4.2.1 version and do not want to downgraded under any circunstances :-)

But, in replace a message entitled:

  [imp] _Problem_ with german umlauts in composing mails

someone have advised to install some pear packages...

Is really horde incompatible with this version of php and  is there some clever solution to this?, like the mentioned.

In that case, I would like to know which packages more are needed?
