What are the recommendations under these conditions then?

Would you suggest using file based sessions on the server that needs to
access preferences remotely ? And stick with database based sessions on the
server that is on the same machine as the prefs database.

Surely there are quite a large number of people running with a similar
configuration ? i.e, 2 servers running horde, imp and turba - one of the
servers hosting the prefs database.... - Anyone else got any opinions/advice
on this one ??
