[imp] external login again

Hi, all --

Trying baby steps first with the basic custom_login form, we find that
we can enter the info and hit the button but get redirected to the login
page -- and yet hitting the back button and then clicking again *THEN*
takes us to the mailbox page.

Any idea what gives?
