Quoting Ahmed <ashihab at alcahest.com>:
| Anyone seen this?
|
| I'e been trying to send an .exe file to customer but had to rename the
| .exe to .xex to avoid MS exchange from removing it.
|
| However, when I attach the file as normal it is given the "text/plain"
| mime-type instead of the more generic and correct
| "application/octet-stream". This consequently causes the file to be
| wrongly handled and corrupted.
Does this happen with all executable files? If so, it is possible that .xex
is a text format recognized by your OS/browser, so that when you upload it
your browser is reporting it as text/plain data to IMP (which we MUST
honor).
If it is specific only to this file, then we should be looking elsewhere (do
you have mime magic support turned on?)
