This has nothing to do with IMAP or anything though.

Sendmail, qmail, postfix, what ever you want.  Just something to receive
mail.

Don't know anything about that.  Sounds like it is using maildir format
probably.

That is normal mbox format (e.g. sendmail + wu-imapd).

Switch from mbox format to maildir format.  This either requires reconfiguring
your mailer software, or switching to a different mail software.

The docs are there (from your vendor, or from the mail software creator).
You just have to find them.  There are no docs in Horde/IMP for setting
up mail systems as that is external to Horde/IMP.
