Security implications aside, it's never a good idea to use a text file
(which is what /etc/passwd is) to store a database with a lot of records.
It's just not efficient.
I think it's better to find out where the student database is being stored
now (I'm assuming you don't have it on physical paper) and find a solution
from there. There's a chance you don't have to add any user manually...
