With much cussing and swearing we have NEVER sucessfully implemented MCAL in our
horde installation.

RH 7.3, HORDE 2.1, Kronolith 1.0

I'll not go into the details right now.  But under SQL backend, alarms is the
only feature not working properly (or not included in 1.0).

I think a stand alone email alarm variant that could be integrated into any
horde app would be great.  It could be a very useful API for people rolling
their own horde apps for more customized company specific apps too.  Plus people
whom might float between email clients would still get their notifications.
