Probably because it's loading the registry entry for 'vacation'. You need to
change vacation/lib/base.php so that it calls
$registry->pushApp('vacation_new') instead - and make sure you have a
vacation-new stanza in config/registry.php, with the right path.

Btw, you don't need to redefine VACATION_BASE at all.
